Best of 2014: 10 Highlights from This Year in SalesforceSo long, 2014. You were a good year, and we’ll think of you fondly.

But before it’s all over, here’s a last hurrah: the top highlights from 2014, tailored to those of you who (like us) might be a tiny bit over-enthusiastic about Salesforce. And in true Letterman style, we’ll count down from 10 to 1, where 10 = awesome, but 1 = most awesome.

10. Winter ’15 Release

Here at Salesforce, we tend to get a little blasé about releases. Why? Because they happen all the time. But a ton of work goes into our releases, and on top of that, we do them three times a year. That’s more than most software companies, and we’re proud of it. Winter ’15 is up and running, but stay tuned for more information about Spring ’15 — coming soon!

But instead of maids-a-milking and partridges, we instead decided to count down the 12 (Business) Days of Salesforce with valuable tips and tricks for you to use all year-round. You can find the entire series on the blog, or on Medium!

6. Salesforce1 Lightning

At Dreamforce, we announced the latest evolution of the Salesforce1 Platform — Salesforce1 Lightning. Now the platform isn’t just limited to developers; with the Lightning App Builder, non-developers can compose applications from all of the components built by Salesforce, partners and all developers in our ecosystem using point-and-click. No more building apps from scratch? Now that’s something to cheer about.

5. The SF Giants Win the World Series

Best of 2014: 10 Highlights from This Year in Salesforce Root, root, root for the home team! As proud sponsors of the San Francisco Giants, we were absolutely thrilled to see them take home the World Series trophy for the third time in five years. It was a very Orange October here in San Francisco, and even SaaSy couldn’t contain her excitement!

4. One Million Meals Donated (and Then Some)

Giving back is a huge part of our culture here at Salesforce, so it made perfect sense to put philanthropy front and center at Dreamforce, as prominent as the star-studded keynotes and new product announcements. Our Salesforce Foundation created an incredible One Million Meals campaign, encouraging all Dreamforce attendees to donate cans and dollars to help provide 1 million meals to hungry people around the world.

Then something amazing happened. Marc Benioff and his friend, motivational speaker and Dreamforce keynote speaker Tony Robbins, each pledged to donate an additional 1 million meals. In total, over 3 million meals were donated  — we couldn’t be more proud of all the Dreamforce attendees who helped make this happen!

3. Salesforce Named “World’s Most Innovative Company” for the Fourth Time in a Row

Best of 2014: 10 Highlights from This Year in SalesforceForbes Magazine distinguished Salesforce as the “Most Innovative Company in the World” for an unprecedented fourth time! To commemorate the honor, Marc Benioff was on the cover of the Forbes Innovators issue to talk about his dedication to push big ideas forward and take risks. “Whatever is in the water at Salesforce, it’s working so far,” proclaimed the article. We couldn’t agree more, Forbes!

2. Analytics Cloud Unveiled

Dreamforce ’14 was full of huge announcements and buzzy keynotes, but nothing quite got people (and the internet) talking quite like the unveiling of Wave: The Salesforce Analytics Cloud. Dedicated to providing “analytics for the rest of us,” Analytics Cloud offers a dynamic user interface, indexed search, and parallel processing, so you can take advantage of the billions of devices generating data around the world. To celebrate the announcement, Marc Benioff brought the Beach Boys onto the Dreamforce stage to revive their hit, “Catch a Wave.”

Best of 2014: 10 Highlights from This Year in SalesforceYes, OK, we’re a little obsessed with Dreamforce. But frankly, it’s amazing. Dreamforce ’14 was all about innovation, fun, and giving back — and with an incredibly diverse selection of sessions, keynotes, community service opportunities, and entertainment, there really was something for everyone. Dreamforce ’14 blew us away; it’s hard to believe that the Dreamforce team will continue to top in next year — but we have no doubt that they have some tricks up their sleeve.
