Install Customer Portal for Dynamics CRM – in Minutes!

April 19, 2016   CRM News and Info

When deciding on which Customer Portal for Dynamics CRM best suits your business, naturally you select the one that is easy to install and connect to your CRM Server, which is the one that allows you to evaluate the portal in the environment in which you work; and how easy it is to customize the portal to the way you work.

Dynamics Portal for Microsoft Dynamics CRM offers your clients secured access to view and create cases, view invoices, orders, knowledgebase articles and more as it is linked to your CRM server. You only need 15-20 minutes to install and test it in a live environment and with live data.

For testing purposes, you can either sign up for a free Azure 30 day trial or create a new virtual server (Windows Server) with an internal IP address on a local network. At a later stage you can point an external IP address to make the portal available to the public. To add webserver capability to the Server, you need to add IIS Role, a similar process for most Windows Servers:

  1. ClickStart, point to Administrative Tools and then click Server Manager.
  2. InRoles Summary, click Add Roles.
  3. Use theAdd Roles Wizard to add the Web server role.

When completed, download the following two files from the download area of this webpage:

The first file is the Dynamics Portal solution, select the one that matches your CRM version (2011/13 or 2015/16)

The second file is the published portal: Published Portal.zip

The following 7 minutes video is a step by step instructions on how to install the portal on the webserver (IIS):

The next step is importing the solution to CRM and customizing it to the way you work. The following 6 minutes video is a step by step instructions on how to perform this step:

The last bit is replacing portal images and text with images of your liking, create workflows triggered by Portal Logs and redirect client, after log off, to your main website. (Information you can read in the knowledgebase section of our customer portal:)
