Simple Project Management for Microsoft Dynamics 365

February 19, 2021   Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Simplify: verb (used with object): to make less complex or complicated; make plainer or easier: to simplify a problem.

Would you like to simplify your work without becoming a slave to your “labor-saving” devices?

The technology industry has been relentlessly adding tools and features to help us work, but sometimes the tools themselves can add another level of complexity. What we need is not more tools, just the right tools. And the right tools prove to be those that are targeted, streamlined, and easy to use.

How to simplify project management

Professional services organizations want to manage projects against a budget. That includes:

  • identifying the project,
  • acknowledging the budget for the whole project,
  • outlining what steps must be taken to complete the project,
  • assigning personnel to the project,
  • recording how much was spent, and
  • figuring how much was billed toward the budget.

Most companies aren’t focusing on resource distribution across a large enterprise. They don’t want complex resource allocation and assignments based on preset workgroups.

They want simple management for their less-complex projects.

There are plenty of project management apps to choose from.  Some stand alone; others are part of a full system. For instance, Dynamics 365 has a project management application or module called Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations. This combines the most mature project management features of the existing D365 Project Service Automation (PSA), Microsoft Project, and Dynamics 365 Finance. Certainly this is a great tool, but it is by no means simple to use.

A complex project management solution will likely deliver far more functionality than you will ever need.

Why invest in a solution just to use ten percent of its tools?

We’d like to suggest a simpler solution: Crowe Project Management for Microsoft Dynamics 365. It is simplicity itself, focusing on what you need and providing just the features to get the job done efficiently.

Since Crowe Project Management is built for and fully integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365, all the data you need is right there in your ERP system, and your employees are familiar with its use.

Watch the overview video:

Crowe Project Management is highly intuitive. Installation is simple because it doesn’t require a full “implementation,” as do some other software offerings. Again, because of ubiquitous familiarity with Microsoft products, training is fast and easy.

By contrast, Microsoft’s PSA tool has so much functionality that setup and training will require a significant amount of time and expense. There are a lot of moving parts that make up the full functionality. For example, you need to set up resources and bill rates, then set up engagement buckets, different templates for different types of engagements based on bill rates, etc.

Whether you engage a Microsoft Partner or use internal IT, implementing a more complex tool involves more effort and expense than you’ll encounter with a simple, easy to use project management tool such as Crowe Project Management for Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Just click to start a new project, add tasks, and you are ready to go.

  • Why burden your employees with an unwieldy project management solution?
  • Why pay for tools you will never use?
  • Why not pay for a less expensive solution that fits your needs perfectly and that you can start using right away?

Your project team is busy. Let them focus on what is truly important, serving your customers. Instead of learning and maintaining a complicated project management system, just keep it simple.
