Sinbad To Star In ‘Shazam’ Sequel Titled ‘Shazam: Fury of the Gods’

August 28, 2020   Humor
Sinbad To Star In ‘Shazam’ Sequel Titled ‘Shazam: Fury of the Gods’

Sinbad is starring in a “Shazam” movie after all.

The actor and comedian was announced as the newest cast member of the “Shazam!” sequel during the DC FanDome virtual fan convention, where the film’s official title was revealed as “Shazam: Fury of the Gods.”

Star Zachary Levi kicked off the “Shazoom” call by explaining to fans that he was “a little limited” about what he could talk about when it came to the sequel, so he invited a few surprise guests to the panel — including co-stars Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, Adam Brody and director David F. Sandberg.

When Sinbad jumped onto the video conference, Levi looked surprised asking, “Sinbad, are you in ‘Shazam 2?’”

“You tell me, John Krazinski, am I? Because everybody thought I was in ‘Shazam 1’ before it even existed — Google it,” Sinbad joked, referencing the internet theories that he’d starred in a comedy about a genie called “Shazam” in the 1990s. (In 1996, Shaquille O’Neal played a genie in a movie titled “Kazaam.”)

“People think I was in that one too, ‘Shazam,’ ‘Kazaam,’ all the Kazaams, I’m relegated to the false memories of the Tide generation man,” Sinbad said. “I’m going to work right now to rectify the situation once and for all with a big, prominent role in ‘Shazam 2,’ thank you very much.”

While it’s unclear who Sinbad will play in the film, he added, “I can play anything. I can play a good guy, bad guy, I can play Shazam’s trainer. And great news, David — I’ve already started working out for the movie. Check this out, man. I’m gonna look so good. I’ll even do nude scenes, a little booty, not a lot.”

Prior to the conference, Sandberg trolled fans by tweeting a fake poster for the sequel, with the title “Shazam!: Now the Kids Have Facial Hair,” acknowledging the long delay between the two films. The director posted the joke in response to a fan who tagged him online after “The Batman” director Matt Reeves revealed his film’s logo and artwork on Thursday.

The first “Shazam” was released in 2019, going on to make $ 365 million at the box office. The lighthearted superhero film starred Levi as Shazam and Angel as 14-year-old Billy Batson, who could turn into the godlike superhero at will.

Rashida Jones To Star In New Animated Comedy For Quibi Titled ‘Filthy Animals’

April 19, 2020   Humor
Rashida Jones To Star In New Animated Comedy For Quibi Titled ‘Filthy Animals’
Actress Rashida Jones is set to star in and executive produce the project, titled ‘Filthy Animals.’
Jones and the team behind Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken have landed an animated comedy project at Quibi.

The short form streamer is developing Filthy Animals, an animated sci-fi comedy that Jones will star in and executive produce (via her Le Train Train). Artists Nikolai and Simon Haas, Carey O’Donnell and Johnny Smith created the show, and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, which produces Robot Chicken, is producing.

Jones will voice Sunny Day, a lonely, too-smart-for-her-own-good suburban 12-year-old who befriends Cruz, a selfish, renegade, messy, suave adoptive cat.

The project is the third for Stoopid Buddy at Quibi; the company is also producing the clay-animation series Gloop World, from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland, and the stop-motion action series Micro Mayhem.

Jones, meanwhile, is part of the voice cast of Fox’s recently renewed Duncanville and stars with Kenya Barris in Netflix’s #BlackAF, which is set to debut Friday. She and her Le Train Train partner, Will McCormack, are executive producers of TNT’s Claws, TBS’ Angie Tribeca (which also starred Jones) and AMC’s upcoming Kevin Can F**k Himself.

Jones and McCormack are exec producing Filthy Animals with the Haas brothers, Smith and Stoopid Buddy’s Seth Green, John Harvatine IV, Matthew Senreich, Eric Towner and Chris Waters.

The mobile-only streaming platform Quibi launched April 6. CEO Meg Whitman said Monday that the service received 1.7 million downloads in its first week, which she said “exceeded our plans and expectations.”

The streamer debuted with some 50 shows, all of which are served in episodes of 10 minutes or less. Content includes scripted and unscripted series and daily news, sports and talk programs. Quibi is offering a 90-day free trial, after which users will pay $ 5 per month for an ad-supported version of the service or $ 8 monthly for one with no ads.

‘Good Times’ Star Ja’net DuBois Passes Away
Ja’net Dubois — one of the main characters on “Good Times” — was found dead Tuesday.
Ja’net played the Evans family’s sassy neighbor Willona Woods on the classic ’70s TV series. Her family tells us … Ja’net died unexpectedly in her sleep overnight at her home in Glendale, CA.
It’s unclear who discovered her body Tuesday morning. We’re told Ja’net hadn’t complained of any specific ailments recently, and appeared to be in good health to those around her. She even attended a fan event in Hollywood a couple weeks ago.
Ja’net might be most famous for “Good Times,” but she also composed and sang the theme song, “Movin’ On Up” for, “The Jeffersons” — so, she should also be remembered for her voice.

She appeared in tons of movies over the years, including “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka”, “Tropic Thunder” and “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.”
Ja’net’s acting career began on Broadway, where she was cast in a number of plays including “Golden Boy” with Sammy Davis Jr. and Louis Gossett Jr. — plus “A Raisin In The Sun.”

She also won two Emmy awards for her voice-over work on “The PJs.”
Ja’net is survived by her children — 2 daughters and a son.
She was 74. RIP

Jermaine Fowler To Star In New Netflix Comedy ‘Cocaine Hippos’

February 22, 2020   Humor
Jermaine Fowler To Star In New Netflix Comedy ‘Cocaine Hippos’

Hollywood is a zoo, and Netflix is now home to some hippos.

The streamer has picked up the comedy package Cocaine Hippos, with comedian Jermaine Fowler set to star.

The story, which comes from writer Jordan VanDina, who is also writing the script, was inspired by the hippopotamuses that were brought into Colombia from Africa in the 1980s to populate the palatial estate of drug lord Pablo Escobar. When Escobar was killed in 1993, his menagerie of animals were taken to zoos or sold, save for the hippos, who were left to their own devices and populated, becoming an invasive species.

Cocaine Hippos will follow a group of friends who stumble across a clue leading to Escobar’s lost treasure. They then embark on a wild trip that pits them against con men, local drug lords and the deadly hippos that Escobar smuggled into Colombia back in the ’80s. The tone is being described as The Hangover meets Tropic Thunder.

Adam Goodman, former president of Paramount’s motion picture group, will produce through his Dichotomy banner, along with Matt Skiena. Fowler will also produce.

Fowler, repped by WME and 3 Arts, is best known for starring on CBS’ Superior Donuts. His upcoming credits include the Coming to America sequel and the Warner Bros. title Jesus Was My Homeboy about the assassinated Black Panther activist Fred Hampton.
VanDina, repped by UTA, 3 Arts and Ginsburg Daniels, also penned The Binge, which is set up at Hulu, and American High, with Vince Vaughn and Skyler Gisondo set to star.

How the Right CRM System Helps Banks Identify Star Employees

October 9, 2019   Microsoft Dynamics CRM

How good are your team members at referring customers to other services offered by your bank to expand your “share of wallet”?

With the right CRM system, you can run activity reports based on employees. You can see how many referrals they have attempted to make, if the prospects were qualified or not, and if the referral resulted in additional revenue to the bank.  This can be especially helpful during an employee’s annual review.

A low score on these activities can highlight the need for additional training or an updated incentive plan. It can also spotlight those few employees who are performing far above the others.

For example, if your bank has one hundred tellers, there may be five that really stand out as doing more than the others. You can single them out for commendation, give them additional responsibility, or promote them to a higher position.

The same analysis can be used for all departments.  Is the sales team cross-referring to other departments? Are the commercial lenders sending anything into investments and back to the bank? You can easily see who are the givers and not just the takers.

The Right CRM System for Banking

A well-defined and executed customer relationship management (CRM) strategy with Microsoft Dynamics 365 at its center can help banks focus on imperatives such as increased customer acquisition, better customer engagement, and improved efficiency and revenue.

Crowe works with 1,800 financial services organizations across the country, including more than two-thirds of the top 100 U.S. banks.

Crowe CRM for Banking, built on Microsoft Dynamics 365, empowers bank staff with the tools and information needed to efficiently deliver high-quality, personalized service – for all interactions, across all channels. It gives managers and team members the information they need to be effective.
