British Comedian London Hughes And Will Packer Productions Team Up For New Comedy Film ‘Hot Mess’

Will Packer Productions and Universal are developing a comedy feature, Hot Mess, which will be toplined by British comedian and actress London Hughes. The film is based on a pitch by Hughes and screenwriter Noushin Jahanian, who will pen the screenplay.

Will Packer and James Lopez will produce through Will Packer Productions with Johanna Byer serving as executive producer. Erik Baiers will oversee the project on behalf of Universal.

Hughes is gearing up for the release of her Netflix special To Catch a D*ck, which debuts on December 22. She was recently announced as one of the hosts of The Netflix Afterparty, a weekly comedy aftershow, along with David Spade and Fortune Feimster, as well as a guest-star on the forthcoming History of Swear Words series hosted by Nicolas Cage.

“After witnessing London’s first performance of her one-woman show in the States I knew I had to be in business with her,” said Lopez. “We are thrilled to be working with London and Noushin on this project and look forward to audiences experiencing their edgy brand of humor.”

Said Hughes, “Will Packer and James Lopez are my LA Fairy God-Dudes! James was one of the first executives I met when I got to the States and he immediately believed in me. I’m beyond excited for the world to see what we’ve been up to.”

Hughes is repped by UTA, Haven, Curtis Brown, and Ziffren Brittenham. Jahanian is with Kaplan/Perrone.

Biden All-Female Communications Team Won’t Tell Nation What’s Wrong, Nation Should Already Know

December 2, 2020   Humor
blank Biden All Female Communications Team Won’t Tell Nation What’s Wrong, Nation Should Already Know

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Biden’s transition team has announced they will be appointing an all-female communications team. According to sources, the team will not tell the nation what’s wrong, since the nation should already know.

“It’s fine. Everything’s fine. Nothing’s wrong, OK!?” said Jen Psaki in her first press conference as a part of Biden’s team. “Why would you think I’m not fine? Ugh… if you have to ask, I’m not going to tell you.”

Insiders close to Biden say the communications team will hold periodic press conferences where they will just glare at reporters with an icy look and make them try to guess what’s wrong. If the reporters fail to understand their highly advanced non-verbal communication, they will smile sweetly and walk out of the room before slamming the door as hard as they can.

“This is a huge step for this country,” said Communication Director Kate Bedingfield to reporters. “We need to move beyond archaic and male-centric methods of communication that use things like clear language and written words. We hope this will help deepen the country’s level of intimacy with the Biden administration and open up new channels of understanding and communication.”

The press has been frantically buying flowers, chocolates, and jewelry for the communications team in hopes of receiving some clue as to what the heck is going on. The team responded by rolling their eyes and going to bed early due to a really bad headache.

TIBCO4Good e1605544911600 696x365 TIBCO4Good and Microsoft Team Up to Virtual Map Vulnerable Communities

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The global TIBCO4Good initiative continues to leave a lasting impact through continued work with key partners and customers. In its latest effort to give back to communities around the world, TIBCO partnered with Microsoft to host Missing Maps. Volunteers worked virtually to help map uncharted areas of Indonesia, enabling key humanitarian organizations to reach those in need.

For the second year running, TIBCO and Microsoft teams worked together to assist in the online mapping of vulnerable areas. This year, the teams collectively completed over 5,930 map edits of Indonesia with 168 volunteer hours logged. Indonesia is a country plagued by poverty and battered by natural disasters. Founded by the Red Cross, Missing Maps is an open collaboration project with a goal of filling in data gaps for places literally missing from the map. The work completed by TIBCO and Microsoft provides humanitarian organizations with the information needed to better facilitate disaster response, medical activities, and resource allocation when crises occur.

With the right map data, non-profit organizations can respond faster to a potential disaster and hopefully lessen the impact on vulnerable communities. The added data on Indonesia, contributed by the TIBCO and Microsoft teams, should help organizations in Indonesia forecast the impact of future crises and implement early response actions, lowering the potential risks to people in those areas. TIBCO was delighted to contribute time and resources to such a monumental project, especially when this data will hopefully help make communities more resilient and ultimately better prepared.

This year has been especially difficult for communities around the world, making the TIBCO4Good mission of using technology to do good and empower people to give back more important than ever. According to Dan Streetman, chief executive officer at TIBCO, “With TIBCO4Good, we don’t just want to give back; we want to work on sustainable projects that uplift, inspire, and facilitate the change we need in the world.”

Send Emails to All Team Members in Dynamics 365

November 6, 2020   Microsoft Dynamics CRM

The idea of sending an email to a team in Dynamics 365 is routinely rejected based on the functionality limitation: Dynamics 365 does not allow us to send emails to a team. However, as with almost everything in Dynamics, there is always at least one workaround. Typically, the suggestions we hear are to do things like sending via a queue, installing third-party solutions, plugins, etc.

Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Makes History With Its 7th Consecutive Constructors’ Championship

November 6, 2020   TIBCO Spotfire

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Team’s done it again! The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team clinched its seventh consecutive FIA Formula One™ Constructors’ World Championship, winning the 2020 FIA Formula One™ World Constructors’ Champions at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

There was a slight chance that the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team could have clinched the championship last week at the Portuguese Grand Prix, but the results indicated otherwise—the Team would have to wait one more week and take the battle back to Italy at Imola.

Going into the weekend, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team ranked first in the Constructors’ standings with 435, surpassing Red Bull’s 226, with ten victories so far this season. Drivers Hamilton and Bottas rank one and two in the Drivers’ standings, respectively. The Team started 1-2 on the starting grid, with Valtteri Bottas in pole position and Lewis Hamilton in P2. As long as one of the drivers came in P4 or better, the Constructors’ Championship would go to Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1. And they did just that. In a 1-2 finish (Hamilton and Bottas respectively), the team clinched the championship. Hamilton also achieved his 93rd career win.

The pandemic caused a delayed start to the 2020 season; the first race took place in early July as opposed to late March. That said, teams were shut down, which resulted in limited testing and optimization going into the start of the season. But, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team was able to prevail, taking the limited testing time and turning it into a competitive advantage.

This win makes the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team the first one ever in F1 history to win seven consecutive world championships. Click To Tweet

Long before this year, the Team began to lay a digital foundation driven by data (with the help of TIBCO advanced analytics) to fuel long-term sustainable innovation year after year. This adaption and innovation have given Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team the ability to optimize its car setup and race strategy over the greater part of the last decade to win races and in turn, championships.

This year has been “A Season Like No Other” with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team making “#HIS7ORY. The Constructors’ title was first awarded in 1958 and this is the seventh title for Mercedes-Benz as a constructor—the company’s first F1 involvement as a constructor ran from 1954 to 1955 when the title was not in existence. Additionally, this win makes the Team the first one ever in F1 history to win seven consecutive world championships (the Team’s first in 2014), breaking new ground for sustained success in the sport (Ferrari was the previous record-holder at six consecutive titles).

Join us in our celebration of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, built on the foundation of teamwork and collective success, honoring the contributions of both the drivers, team members, and partners.

We’d like to extend our congratulations to the team for such an amazing achievement and can’t wait to see what else is to come as we near the end of the 2020 F1 season. Follow along on all the excitement with TIBCO on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts. Microsoft and TIBCO Team Up to Bring Machine Learning and AI to IoT and the Edge

July 18, 2020   TIBCO Spotfire
TIBCO IoT 696x464 Microsoft and TIBCO Team Up to Bring Machine Learning and AI to IoT and the Edge

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In our continuing commitment to accelerate digital business transformation through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), TIBCO unveiled the capabilities of TIBCO Spotfire® and TIBCO® Data Science to support Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services at a recent  Build conference. Thanks to this combo of TIBCO and Microsoft technologies, sensor data, and log data can now be analyzed on edge devices with little to no internet connectivity. This means less lag time for analytics and hence, faster response times for businesses based on that intelligence, particularly in places with unreliable internet connections.

The need for intelligence at the edge without internet connectivity is growing fast. In fact, in a report by Gartner, they predict that “By 2022, more than 50% of enterprise-generated data will be created and processed outside the data center or cloud.” As more devices become intelligent, there will be a greater need for processing the data they collect outside of core systems and closer to the edge.

Think of factory floors, shipping containers at sea, and any other location where the internet is spotty. Now, in places with little to no internet connectivity, developers can bring the power of TIBCO visual analytics and data science solutions to detect and prevent anomalies. Anomalies help improve their organization’s operational efficiency and lower equipment costs.

“Increasingly, customers performing predictive maintenance must look for ways to leverage AI closer to where their data is generated for timely analytics and responses,” said Matt Quinn, Chief Operating Officer, TIBCO. So, for those who have focused on bringing AI to their core systems, it’s now time to think about how you can extend intelligence to your Internet of Things (IoT) and edge devices that might lack full-time internet connectivity.

For those who have focused on bringing AI to their core systems, it’s now time to think about how you can extend intelligence to your Internet of Things (IoT) and edge devices that might lack full-time internet connectivity. Click To Tweet

Some excellent use cases highlighting the power of intelligence at the edge where internet connectivity is questionable or shaky have been popping up in recent years including the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics who are proactively predicting infection rates using advanced analytics on data collected on medical devices. Their efforts saw a drop of 74 percent in onsite surgical infections as a result of making predictive decisions directly in operating rooms. Anadarko, an oil and gas exploration and production company that has been working with TIBCO for several years, increased the speed of their drilling projects by 10 times even though many of their drill sites are in the middle of the ocean or in underdeveloped countries where internet connectivity is spotty at best.

With so much data being generated at the edge, it’s not always practical to bring that data back to a central location for processing. You need the capabilities of AI and ML to bring better and faster decisioning to the edge without the limitations of, slow or no internet connectivity. For more information on how the TIBCO plus Microsoft use case might be able to help your company realize machine learning at the edge, please visit Microsoft Channel 9 for the demo given at the Build Conference, read the TechTarget News article or TIBCO press release for more details.

Connecting Data is a Team Sport

June 11, 2020   TIBCO Spotfire
TIBCO BetterTogether e1591731810625 696x365 Connecting Data is a Team Sport

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I recently teamed up with Austrian customer Raiffeisen Bank, Dutch partner Connected Data Group, and German partner QuinScape to deliver a webinar entitled “Next-Generation Data Virtualization Has Arrived.” Combining our experiences and insights, we delivered an accessible roadmap of how TIBCO Data Virtualization can help enterprises connect their data to drive greater business value.

After the webinar, I spoke with Connected Data Group co-founder Erik Fransen, whom I first met at a data virtualization event in 2015. We talked about Erik’s latest insights on the European data and analytics market as well as his fast-growing business. Connected Data Group helps clients become more data-driven and was co-founded with Antoine Stelma. The pair realized early on that they would have to transition their clients from traditional warehousing and replication-based data architectures to more modern and agile solutions. Below, I share some highlights from our conversation.

What is driving the European data and analytics market today?

“Our clients understand that data is core to their business success. Data helps them innovate faster, operate more efficiently, and provide more valuable customer experiences. Their challenge is unlocking that data, connecting it via more modern adaptable data architecture, making it more consistent and consumable, and doing all of this in an agile, cost-effective way.

That’s where the Connected Data group comes in. We connect data with people and people with data. And together with our network of partners, we help our clients maximize the business value of their data.”

How do you connect people and data to realize data’s business value?

“We start by helping our clients identify their biggest data-driven business opportunities. With these objectives in mind, we then analyze their data management architecture and propose ways to modernize it.

This typically means new investments in TIBCO offerings such as TIBCO Data Virtualization and TIBCO EBX.  TIBCO Data Virtualization makes their data architecture more flexible and responsive.  TIBCO EBX helps organize their most important data assets, for example, their customer and product data.  And when used together in their data architecture, they make our clients’ data available to the business in a simple, quick, consistent, and predictable way.

We also help our clients skill up their people to maximize the business value and gain insight from their modernized data architecture. e deliver an excellent training program that helps educate business and IT leaders, analysts, data scientists, data engineers, data modelers, and others.”

Tell me more about your network of partners?

“We are business value-driven, data management, and data analytics specialists with deep experience in business requirements, data modeling, data warehouse development, and automation, data architecture, analytics, and data science. But we alone cannot cover the entire data and analytics spectrum, nor the entire European market.

So we team with other specialist consultancies such as KVL and Systemation in The Netherlands, QuinScape and Statsoft Europe in Germany, Apgar Consulting in France, and Yael Group in Israel.  And of course, we work with a selected set of technology providers including TIBCO. Our Connected Data Academy provides a broad range of Data & Analytics education programs focused on concept and skill development, IT tool training, and made-to-measure in-company programs. We partner with major training institutes in the Netherlands and we have a deep partnership with Genesee Academy in the USA focused on Data Vault Modeling Certifications worldwide.”

So the “Group” term in your Connected Data Group brand is intentional.

“Yes absolutely. Our clients’ data opportunities and challenges are massive. But when we connect our clients, our team, and our partner network, there is no challenge we cannot successfully address. Plus teaming with great people is a lot more fun and satisfying way to do business.”

Speaking of partners, can you tell us about your relationship with TIBCO?

“Our relationship began in 2014 driven by our client’s need for data virtualization. We expanded our partnership in 2018 when TIBCO added TIBCO EBX. We recently added the newest offering in TIBCO’s Unify data management portfolio, TIBCO Cloud Metadata, which provides a one-stop-shop for metadata management, data governance, and data catalog. We love the fact TIBCO now provides our clients with the complete, next-generation data management solution they require.

Once we put their consistent, complete, connected data architecture in place, we then help our clients gain insight from that data using additional solutions such as TIBCO Spotfire, TIBCO Streaming, and TIBCO Data Science.”

Can you give us a couple of examples of customers who have benefited from your TIBCO partnership and what kind of impact our partnership is delivering?

“We have teamed with TIBCO at over a dozen of Europe’s biggest healthcare, automotive, financial services, and retail companies. European candy maker Cloetta is one example.  Raiffeisen Bank who spoke at the webinar is another. The impacts are significant, including top-line growth, lower costs, better compliance, and more.”

Erik, I enjoyed our conversation, and thank you for helping communicate why connecting data is a team sport. If someone would like to connect with you directly, how would one do that?

“I would enjoy speaking with your blog readers about their data-driven business opportunities, challenges, and how Connected Data Group and our partner network might help. Just reach out via LinkedIn. I look forward to the conversations.”

Announcing RapidMiner 9.7 — Making data science a team sport

June 10, 2020   BI News and Info
photo of people doing fist bump 3184430 Announcing RapidMiner 9.7 — Making data science a team sport

Today, we’re excited to announce the next step in RapidMiner’s growth—RapidMiner 9.7. With the launch of 9.7, we’re continuing our work to put people at the center of the AI journey by fostering better collaboration, all while improving the oversight and management that’s critical to creating successful machine learning projects.

Here’s a look at the biggest changes in 9.7.

RapidMiner Server is now RapidMiner AI Hub

As part of the 9.7 launch, we’ve rebranded RapidMiner Server as RapidMiner AI Hub. This new name communicates the AI Hub’s function of connecting machine learning to the people, processes, and systems that make it all work. Integrating all of this through the AI Hub will help tear down the silos that can stymie machine learning projects and help them succeed. You can read more about the name change here.

AI Hub includes a new projects framework

The change in name to AI Hub comes with the addition of a projects framework that allows for unprecedented central collaboration and governance of AI projects.

Projects help teams convert ideas into models easily and iteratively, so they can deliver value for the business. People with different tooling preferences and skillsets can collaborate in a single platform that supports automated, visual, and code-based authoring styles. Everyone involved in machine learning projects can work together in the same place, easing collaboration friction.

Projects offers precise version control

In addition to allowing everyone to work in the same place, projects also delivers a rare combination of agility and traceability by integrating fine-grained version control based on Git standards. This allows the tracking of all changes—including who executed them—which creates clear and distinct model lineages in case you need to backtrack or merge project code. What’s more, “Snapshots” functionality lets you easily roll back to earlier versions of projects, supporting iterative and agile AI development.

Supports large-scale collaboration

To support collaboration at large scale, we’ve introduced enterprise-grade identity & access management to RapidMiner’s products. This includes an enterprise-grade single sign-on experience, creating a seamless experience across the RapidMiner platform. It also includes precision access control that facilitates fine-grained user, group, and role management.

All of these new features make collaboration between coders, RapidMiner Studio users, and RapidMiner Go users even easier. If you’re interested in the nitty gritty of the release, you can check out the What’s New page for all the details.

Tracking regional outbreaks and estimating the spread of COVID-19

We are all glued to the news and various online updates as we seek to better understand and appropriately respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. These unprecedented events have affected nearly every corner of the globe, causing us all to seek accurate information about what is happening and what’s still to come.

But what information is most helpful? Because this new disease has a long incubation period, a broad spectrum of symptoms ranging from mild to severe, and so many factors that can affect infection rates, there is much to consider.  And looking at the raw data alone can create a sense of panic.

TIBCO’s Data Science team took on this challenge, applying their expertise along with visual and predictive analytics tools to crunch the numbers. Their goal was to understand the outbreaks in real time at the community level and to assess the effects of the non-pharmaceutical, social interventions. We hope their insights add value for those involved in the response to COVID-19 and provide greater awareness of the facts for the community overall.

Here are a few highlights of what they developed:

1. Daily updates and analyses of cases, fatality, and recovery trajectories for individual countries.

2. Spatial analyses and timelapse views showing outbreak progressions across regions.

3. Model updates estimating the reproduction number over time (Rt) for countries and states, and relating these models to non-pharmaceutical intervention methods.

To learn more about their methods and findings, visit our TIBCO Community site to read COVID-19: A Visual Data Science Analysis and Review, by TIBCO Chief Data Analytics Officer Michael O’Connell and the TIBCO Data Science team.  Please forward this link to anyone who might be interested and bookmark it to stay abreast of the latest findings as the team continues their investigation.

We hope you stay safe and healthy as we move toward recovery.
