I’m a Tech Recruiter — These Stories from Women in Analytics Inspire Me

April 2, 2021   Sisense
inspiring stories women in analytics blog yoast 1200x628 1 I’m a Tech Recruiter — These Stories from Women in Analytics Inspire Me

In honor of Women’s History Month, I sat down (virtually) with a diverse panel of women from across Sisense in an open interview format. We dug into their unique challenges and successes to learn what inspires them as they blaze their trails in the tech world. From juggling work and life responsibilities and raising children to lifting up the voices of other marginalized individuals, these intrepid Sisensers do it all and are helping build a tech powerhouse at the same time!

It will take a lot of work to continue building a more equitable world and to forge the way for the next generation of women in tech; hopefully after hearing from these Sisensers, you’ll understand a bit about how far we’ve come and reaffirm your commitment to helping build a better future.

Women inspiring women

CNBC reported that in 2021, women’s workforce participation (the portion of the population actively searching for work) hit a 33-year low — just 57%. After decades of positive trends of women in the workforce, the global pandemic has forced women out of the workplace like never before. Women — far more often than men — find themselves having to stay home with their families due to school closures and lack of childcare options.

But at Sisense and many other high-tech companies, women are still a powerful part of the team.

“I’m in constant awe of working mothers who balance their home responsibilities with their day jobs,” said Melanie Tantingco, VP, Talent Acquisition.

As the number of women in the workforce is being forcibly reduced by the pandemic, it’s more important than ever to support the women on our teams. Being able to balance life and work is critical to keeping women in the workforce. But it does require some give and take from our teammates and the companies themselves. It can be done, but even under the best conditions, it’s not easy.

“Something that I love about working in tech is that I have always had the ability to work from home or even work in a hybrid model,” said Elise Woodard, Social Media Manager. “Since COVID hit in 2020, I’ve been home and working remotely with my four kids. Even though it’s incredibly difficult some days, I feel good setting the example for my kids that women can have powerful careers. This is especially important for me to show my daughter.”

Helping young girls find pathways into tech is so important. While some girls have mothers or other family members as examples, others are inspired by women who run organizations that encourage girls to explore STEM activities.

“I am inspired by Reshma Saujani, Founder of Girls who Code,” said Susanna Tharakan, Diversity & Inclusion Program Manager. “She’s a woman of color, like me, who paved her own path to success while bringing up other women alongside her. Her TEDx talk called ‘Teach Girls Bravery not Perfection’ was both inspiring and validating.”

Mentors matter

No one gets anywhere in life alone; we all need help. Since women understand the unique challenges that we go through in the workforce, it’s especially important that we support each other, whenever and however we can! In this spirit, one question we asked our panel was, “Who are some women who have helped you in your career?”

“My honest answer is my mom,” said Cody Young, Talent Acquisition Partner. “Although she doesn’t work in tech, she has had a successful career and has always been there to provide me with authentic guidance and has embodied what it means to balance career, home, and passion in the workplace. Growing up with a strong example of what it means to be a woman of color in the workplace without compromising her own values has helped me to lead with confidence without having to compromise my own values.”

The tech world can be challenging, but startups and even bigger companies like Sisense can offer women unique opportunities to support each other and help women grow and succeed.

“While working for my first startup, [a leader named] Osha Kondori advised me to negotiate a promotion that I clearly wanted but didn’t feel qualified to ask for,” said Mirijam Stewart, Customer Success Manager. “She knew my worth before I did. Then, she referred me to Periscope Data [which merged with Sisense]. In the past year I’ve been able to join her team during COVID-19 and tackle difficult conversations.”

Paving the way for the next generation of women in tech

When women succeed, we all succeed. Our society and our planet have a long way to go to create equality for women and young girls. Women who have already made inroads in the tech world can help those just starting their careers or who are still learning the skills they’ll need to succeed. Many people ask themselves, “How can I help the next generation of young women succeed in the tech world and beyond?” Our panel offers this guidance:

“Get involved with nonprofits or resource groups in underrepresented communities,” said Shannon Woodward, Account Development Representative. “Take an intersectional approach to involving yourself.”

“Do well yourself and talk about it,” said Shruthi Panicker, Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager. “Become friends with others and be part of the community.”

All children need support and encouragement, but especially girls who are interested in male-dominated worlds like tech, the sciences, and math.

“Celebrate when girls explore their interests in STEM programs,” Melanie offered. “Gift them with non-gendered or science-based toys. Encourage them to take tech internships or seek out women mentors early in their career.”

“It’s important to talk to girls about technology at a young age,” Elise said. “I think we’ve made strides in the last generation, and I already see so many opportunities for my daughter in this field. We need to continue to foster an environment that encourages girls to thrive in tech.”

Celebrating Women’s History Month

Although I think we can all agree that women’s history should be celebrated beyond just one month of the year, it’s amazing to have a month dedicated to increasing awareness of women’s issues in society and celebrating the trailblazers who paved the way for women to get where we are today.

“It’s a time to be thankful for the women who have broken barriers that have allowed us to be in the rooms we are now,” said Cody.

“For me, Women’s History Month means celebrating how far we’ve come while recognizing the women in our lives who have helped us get to where we are today,” said Susanna. “Women supporting women. Women recognizing women. Shining a spotlight on those who have been overshadowed, talked over, and just not given the same attention as our male counterparts.”

Envisioning a better future for women in tech

There’s no telling what tomorrow will bring or what the future of tech will look like; however, we can all play a role in creating more opportunities for diverse communities and people who have historically been barred from progress or leadership.

“Elevate more women who do not look like you,” said Mirijam. “Seek them out. Ask them about their perspective. Don’t ask for similar experience; ask for their story and look at what they’ve achieved.”

The past is not one story; nor is the future. It will be woven by the countless individuals who go out, every day, and try to make the world a better place, helping support each other — people with different backgrounds, outlooks, dreams, and goals.

“I believe organizations need to do more in order to recruit and retain women in the tech industry,” said Mimi Mbaye, People Partner. “We need to support diversity, equity, and inclusion so more women can enter the space.”

Julia Casey is a Talent Acquisition Partner at Sisense. She has almost 3 years of experience in the tech industry recruiting top talent, creating a quality candidate experience, refining Sisense’s employer branding, and co-leading the in-house women’s Employee Resource Group, Zenith.

AI Weekly: These researchers are improving AI’s ability to understand different accents

Join Transform 2021 for the most important themes in enterprise AI & Data. Learn more.

The pandemic appears to have supercharged voice app usage, which was already on an upswing. According to a study by NPR and Edison Research, the percentage of voice-enabled device owners who use commands at least once a day rose between the beginning of 2020 and the start of April. Just over a third of smart speaker owners say they listen to more music, entertainment, and news from their devices than they did before, and owners report requesting an average of 10.8 tasks per week from their assistant this year compared with 9.4 different tasks in 2019. According to a new report from Juniper Research, consumers will interact with voice assistants on 8.4 billion devices by 2024.

But despite their growing popularity, assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri still struggle to understand diverse regional accents. According to a study by the Life Science Centre, 79% of people with accents alter their voice to make sure that they’re understood by their digital assistants. And in a recent survey commissioned by the Washington Post, popular smart speakers made by Google and Amazon were 30% less likely to understand non-American accents than those of native-born users.

Traditional approaches to narrowing the accent gap would require collecting and labeling large datasets of different languages, a time- and resource-intensive process. That’s why researchers at MLCommons, a nonprofit related to MLPerf, an industry-standard set of benchmarks for machine learning performance, are embarking on a project called 1000 Words in 1000 Languages. It’ll involve creating a freely available pipeline that can take any recorded speech and automatically generate clips to train compact speech recognition models.

“In the context of consumer electronic devices, for instance, you don’t want to have to go out and build new language datasets because that’s costly, tedious, and error-prone,” Vijay Janapa Reddi, an associate professor at Harvard and a contributor on the project, told VentureBeat in a phone interview. “What we’re developing is a modular pipeline where you’ll be able to plug in different sources speech and then specify the [words] for training that you want.”

While the pipeline will be limited in scope in that it’ll only create training datasets for small, low-power models that continually listen for specific keywords (e.g. “OK Google” or “Alexa”), it could represent a significant step toward truly accent-agnostic speech recognition systems. By convention, training a new keyword-spotting model would require manually collecting thousands of examples of labeled audio clips for each keyword. When the pipeline is released, developers will be able to simply provide a list of keywords they wish to detect along with a speech recording and the pipeline will automate the extraction, training, and validation of models without requiring any labeling.

“It’s not even really creating a dataset, it’s just training a dataset that comes about as a result of searching the larger corpus,” Reddi explained. “It’s like doing a Google search. What you’re trying to do is find a needle in a haystack — you end up with a subset of results with different accents and whatever else you have in there.”

The 1000 Words in 1000 Languages project builds on existing efforts to make speech recognition models more accessible — and equitable. Mozilla’s Common Voice, an open source and annotated speech dataset, consists of voice snippets and voluntarily contributed metadata useful for training speech engines like speakers’ ages, sex, and accents. As a part of Common Voice, Mozilla maintains a dataset target segment that aims to collect voice data for specific purposes and use cases, including the digits “zero” through “nine” as well as the words “yes,” “no,” “hey,” and “Firefox.” For its part, in December, MLCommons released the first iteration of a public 86,000-hour dataset for AI researchers, with later versions due to branch into more languages and accents.

“The organizations that have a huge amount of speech are often large organizations, but speech is something that has many applications,” Reddi said. “The question is, how do you get this into the hands of small organizations that don’t have the same scale as big entities like Google and Microsoft? If they have a pipeline, they can just focus on what they’re building.”

JUST WHAT ARE THESE ARSEHOLES TALKING ABOUT?

September 19, 2020   Humor
blank JUST WHAT ARE THESE ARSEHOLES TALKING ABOUT?

I have no idea.

Not sure what it is they’ll be doing.

Maybe you guys do.

Read:

The New York Times and Facebook have struck a multi-year partnership to co-develop augmented reality (AR) filters and effects on Instagram that help users access and contextualize New York Times journalism, executives tell Axios.

Why it matters: It’s the first time that The Times has experimented with augmented reality technology at scale and off of its own website and apps. The partnership also represents an evolution in the relationship between publishers and tech companies.

Details: To get the partnership off the ground, The Times has built a dedicated “AR Lab” team within its research and development unit of more than a dozen employees.

That team will develop augmented reality filters and effects using a Facebook platform for developers called “Spark AR Studio.”

Facebook will provide guidance on ways to use Spark, and in turn, The Times will provide feedback to Facebook on developer experience and features.

Facebook will be providing financial and technical support for the project, but it will not have any influence on the editorial side. The Times will have full control over the design and content of the effects.

The first few filters from the launch series will include visual interactive pieces tied to the centennial of women’s suffrage, coverage of the California wildfires and air quality during the COVID-19 lockdown, as displayed in the picture above.

How it works: Instagram users can interact with the filters and effects on the @NYTimes Instagram account profile page, under the effects tab.

The filters will also be available on Instagram for users to overlay onto their own pictures and videos that they share with friends.

“We actually think that these will be useful to convey our journalism,” says Monica Drake, assistant managing editor at The Times.

“When users encounter the effects through our handles or people who share the effect, we hope they come to us to find a fuller story. It gives them an entry point into our journalism.”

Between the lines: The Times has led the news industry for years in experimenting with different forms of storytelling using new technologies.

Its in-house advertising agency T Brand first started working with AR in 2017.

The Times’ editorial team launched its first exploration into AR in 2018 on its own app, as seen in its work highlighting four of the top athletes in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

It’s also pushed aggressively in experimenting with virtual reality beginning in 2014, and later 5G video technology and audio storytelling.

The big picture: The new partnership represents an evolution in the relationship between The New York Times and Facebook, as well as the broader dynamic between publishers and technology companies.

“We’re in an era where big tech companies are also big research companies,” says The Times’ head of research and development Marc Lavallee.

“The investment Facebook is making in AR writ large makes it so that we want to make sure that we have a good working understanding of the technology.”

Yes, but: The relationship between the two companies hasn’t always been so cozy.

The Times was one of the first outlets to pull from Facebook’s Instant Articles product in 2017, after it felt as though the monetization terms favored Facebook.

Its former CEO Mark Thompson had at times openly criticized the tech giant for its policies impacting the news industry.

Facebook has since begun to invest in its relationship with publishers, in part because it’s conceded that its users care a lot about consuming news on its platforms.

The partnership launched Wednesday will be its first long-term effort in producing sharable AR-first journalism on Instagram.

What’s next: The Times says it expects to be able to publish more filters with stories on a much more regular basis in the near future.

Make the Most of Dynamics 365 with These Integrations

September 4, 2020   Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Your CRM (Customer Relationship Management) solution is a powerful tool. But are you using all its powerful features? New Dynamics 365 users who were used to working on older on-premises systems may be a bit behind the curve. Even legacy versions of CRM as little as one or two years old are lacking some of the innovative new integrations that can take your business to the next level.

xCopy of Blog CTA Template 2 1 300x165.png.pagespeed.ic.EhsITpMBqK Make the Most of Dynamics 365 with These Integrations

After you have dealt with data migration and user experience, extending your system with integrations is the best next step to get the most out of your CRM solution.

Here’s how you can leverage advanced capabilities for collaboration, analytics, and artificial intelligence.

Microsoft Teams for better collaboration

As well as contributing to individual productivity with immediate access to your CRM data, Microsoft Teams allows your employees to connect with each other in real-time at any time and from anywhere to get more done. Teams helps individuals and groups collaborate by:

  • Providing snapshots of financial data stored in Microsoft Dynamics 365 to better illustrate how your organization is performing against its goals
  • Tracking your sales opportunities pulled seamlessly from your Dynamics 365/CRM  to identify top leads for your sales teams
  • Allowing you to keep abreast of the latest trends that will enhance your employees’ teamwork by identifying emerging Microsoft CRM capabilities.

Power BI for maximizing analytics

Microsoft’s Power BI is consistently recognized as a leading analytics and business intelligence platform. Expand your organization‘s data analysis within Dynamics 365 and across other applications. Users can efficiently access, model, and visualize organizational data with these features:

  • Choose and connect to a data source to gather the information you want to include in a report.
  • Build your data model by adjusting and refining your chosen information with filters, sorting groups, adding or removing columns, transforming views and formats, and combining data from other sources.
  • Create data visualizations within your Power BI report. Use single or multiple pages with one or many visuals depending on the number of fields you prefer.

AI to maintain a leading-edge

These days, changes in technology are rapid. Businesses need to be able to keep up with innovations. AI (Artificial Intelligence) is a modern form of technology where computers can perform many tasks that previously required sentient beings. AI can’t think for you, but it can gather your information and show it to you in its most usable form. Top organizations realize the importance of AI; look at these industry  statistics:

AI will continue to advance and will become more efficient at increasing productivity and reducing waste. Two forms of AI widely adopted by businesses and available through Dynamics 365 are machine learning and the use of intelligent bots.

  • Machine learning allows computers to use existing data to forecast future behaviors, outcomes, and trends. Through machine learning, computers learn without being explicitly programmed.
  • Intelligent bots allow customers to interact with computer applications in a conversational manner using text, graphics, or speech. This communication can take the form of a simple question-and-answer dialog or more complexly by integrating applications that use AI techniques with existing business services.

These compelling integrations extend the capabilities of your new Cloud CRM. Organizations that strategically plan to adopt these features before migration will be set up for a competitive advantage. Grow your organization‘s collaboration, analytics, and AI efficiencies today with Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM.

Contact our experts at BroadPoint, and let’s talk about how Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM and these integrations can make a real difference for your business.

Why are these expressions with shifted delta functions not equal?

August 6, 2020   BI News and Info
Why are these expressions with shifted delta functions not equal?

I have the following equation

Exp[a-t]*DiracDelta[t-a] == DiracDelta[t-a]

which cannot be evaluated. However, if I plug in 0 for a:

In[1] = Exp[t]*DiracDelta[t] == DiracDelta[t]
Out[1] = True

This does not seem to work with values other than 0.

Of course, the equality with delta functions may be mathematically tricky, but in this case Exp[a-t] == 1 for a == t, thus the first expression should yield True (in my opinion…). How can I get to this value?

Planning and Budgeting

The NetSuite journey for Edgewood Companies, a real estate firm, began when it implemented SuiteSuccess Starter to improve financial reporting processes. To provide trend-based planning and operational reporting, the company then expanded its suite with NetSuite Planning and Budgeting. It will detail that experience on Thursday at the Expanding the Suite with NetSuite Planning and Budgeting session. On Tuesday, another Planning and Budgeting customer, Neutrona, will explain how a fast -growing, award-winning, multinational high-tech company customized NetSuite Planning and Budgeting to provide accurate reporting, dashboarding, and forecasting that supports business expansion at How Neutrona Took Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting to the Next Level.

HR

Employees represent the largest cost to most companies, and using external payroll products and GL imports often leads to expensive integrations, incomplete data or just not enough detail. On Tuesday, NetSuite customer, R.A. Miller Industries Inc., will explain how it is using SuitePeople U.S. Payroll to reduce the cost of running payroll with a more efficient process at Increasing Operational Efficiency with SuitePeople U.S. Payroll. Attendees will learn how SuitePeople U.S. Payroll, eliminates the need for manually importing payroll data while providing much more detail. With recommended payroll batches and batch previews, the time to process payroll is greatly reduced and accuracy is more achievable.

On Wednesday in the Investing in People for Outstanding Customer Experiences session, PropLogix, a real-estate property intelligence company, will share how it expanded its NetSuite investment beyond financials to include NetSuite SuitePeople and SuitePeople U.S. Payroll, which provide a scalable solution for managing and paying employees. Presenters will show how SuitePeople helped PropLogix grow from 10 employees to more than 200 within five years and describe the real ROI and savings the company experienced by replacing leaky payroll vendors with a unified solution.

Reporting & Analytics

SuiteAnalytics Workbooks offers powerful reporting capabilities for finance. In the Leverage the Power of SuiteAnalytics Workbooks session, attendees will learn how to leverage sample workbooks, share workbooks and create a new workbook. They will also learn how to build data sets and create pivot tables and charts that will bring data to life for easier consumption and better decision making. NetSuite customer RealWear will share how the company used SuiteAnalytics Workbooks to analyze SuitePeople HR information, improving financial reporting.

On Tuesday in Take Your Reporting to the Next Level: Automating Custom Reporting & Searches, attendees can learn how to create a custom report, including how to decide whether to start with a standard report or design their own from the ground up. Presenters will explore the differences between saved searches and reports, and show how to set up automatic report generation and email distribution lists.

For more experienced staff, Report Customization: Deep Dive into the Trial Balance, on Tuesday, will show how the NetSuite Trial Balance report provides an easy way to view all general ledger accounts in one place without having to rely on financial statements.

Compliance & Security Controls

A fundamental element of internal control is segregation of duties (SOD), the idea that no employee should be in a position to both commit and then conceal errors or fraud in the normal course of his or her duties. In It Takes Two to Tango: Preventing Fraud by Segregating Duties on Thursday, presenters will share real-life examples from NetSuite users and industry experts on the best practices for analyzing a company’s SOD and related NetSuite access controls.

Well-designed security and controls can set a company up for future success. In the Wednesday session Foundations of Security and Controls: Enabling Growth and Scalability, attendees can gain foundational good practices for logical access and controls, which are not only required from a regulatory perspective, but are also useful guardrails that drive consistency and quality as an organization grows.

That’s just a sampling of the finance sessions available. The full SuiteWorld session catalog is now online and discounted registration is available through April 4.

SuiteWorld is celebrating its 10th year and, just as with every conference before it, this year’s event promises multiple opportunities to learn how Oracle NetSuite’s suite of applications can unlock possibilities and business growth.

Returning to the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas April 20-23, SuiteWorld will once again feature successful customers, NetSuite executives, details on the product roadmap and a rockin’ party. But, as is often the case, some of the most valuable insights are gained during the sessions held throughout the event.

Whether by business role, industry or step in your NetSuite journey, there are sessions dedicated to your needs. Here’s just a sample of some of the more than 200 sessions and workshops on tap this year.

Finance

NetSuite was originally called NetLedger, and financial management is still the critical piece to the whole platform. SuiteWorld20 gives those in finance roles ample opportunities to learn. See the separate blog post dedicated to finance specifically to preview some of the sessions where the finance team can learn, network and advance their business and their careers.

Discovery

The Discover track features a number of sessions dedicated to those still learning about the capabilities of the suite.

On Tuesday, April 21, at 3 p.m. in Unlock the Power of NetSuite on Day One, customers will describe how they integrated, enhanced and streamlined every facet of their business with NetSuite and how the SuiteSuccess engagement model can get businesses up and running quickly thanks to the leading practices built in.

Also on Tuesday, attendees can hear from a veteran of Shark Tank in From Start-up to Shark Tank and Beyond. The session will describe how DUDE Products evolved from a start- up out of an apartment to a Shark Tank deal with Mark Cuban and a new state-of-the-art, highly automated and remote-driven NetSuite system. Ideal for entrepreneurs and businesses focused on rapid growth, in the session attendees will hear how DUDE Products built a multimillion-dollar business with only four employees and distribution in every major retailer in the United States.

For those just embarking on an ERP journey or moving on from an entry-level or outdated system, Wednesday’s session ERP Selection Best Practices: Vision to Value offers just what it promises. Attendees will hear from peers, as well as NetSuite value experts, about how to identify and quantify various value drivers for their organization during the technology investment evaluation process and how NetSuite helps businesses expand into new markets, generate more revenue, increase profitability, better manage expenses and improve productivity.

IT/Admin

For NetSuite administrators and others in IT roles, SuiteWorld also offers tracks dedicated to making their lives easier.

On Wednesday, get 50 NetSuite Security Tips in 50 Minutes, which will feature tips for improving NetSuite security; principles for better managing security in the future; and NetSuite features and options specifically designed to help achieve better security.

No software system covers every specific need for all businesses. Thursday’s Customizations Got You Down? How to Create Ones That Work will showcase and troubleshoot common examples of customizations that administrators frequently encounter. Attendees will learn why they need to consider the entire business process before making changes to NetSuite flows.

Women in Business

SuiteWorld will once again feature a Women in Business track. On Wednesday, the Boost Your Career With a Board Seat session will show how a seat on a board of directors can challenge women in new ways and bring influence to an organization’s strategy. It will include valuable insights from female board members about how the experience has shaped their careers.

Workplace stress doesn’t discriminate. According to the American Institute of Stress, 80% of workers feel stress on the job, nearly half say they need help in learning how to manage stress, and 42% say their coworkers need such help. Also on Wednesday, Combating Workplace Stress: Tips from Headspace will address that very issue with the team from research-backed meditation app Headspace. The session will provide tips on how to address workplace stress to improve your own well-being and that of your team.

Developer

Developers will once again have a dedicated track as well. On Wednesday, Building a SuiteCloud Application from Start to Finish will have platform engineering team leads go through the entire process of creating a fully functioning business app from the ground up, using technologies such as the SuiteCloud Developer Framework (SDF), REST integration with external data, SuiteScript 2.1 coding in the WebStorm IDE, along with native testing and troubleshooting in the Chrome debugger UI.

Thursday features new opportunities to use the power of SuiteFlow to address advanced process automation needs at Working with Advanced Workflows in SuiteFlow. SuiteFlow experts will dive into an array of automation choices made possible by powerful new capabilities, such as support for transaction sublists.

Operations

Operations pros will want to catch From Seed to Cup: Intelligentsia Coffee’s Journey Through NetSuite on Wednesday when Intelligentsia Coffee will share how it solved its unique sales and supply chain challenges with NetSuite. The specialty coffee roaster, retailer and wholesaler will share how reworking everything from its CRM system to its case management and ecommerce platforms has improved the customer experience and driven business growth.

Additionally, Improve Supply Chain and Manufacturing Agility with SuiteAnalytics will show how SuiteAnalytics provides advanced analytical capabilities that help evaluate performance beyond standard search options, outlining techniques for deploying SuiteAnalytics to report on many operational areas of NetSuite, including advanced manufacturing, and demonstrate out-of-the-box workbooks.

Sales

Sales professional will want to learn how the Girl Scouts Optimize B2C and B2B Ecommerce Web Performance to Drive Sales on Tuesday. The organization runs its $ 42 million merchandise business on NetSuite and leverages NetSuite’s ecommerce solutions for both B2C and B2B operations. In this session, Girl Scouts of the USA will explain how it collaborated with NetSuite Advanced Customer Support resources to optimize website performance.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday they can learn How Outdoor Voices Makes Data-Driven Decisions with NetSuite. The outdoor clothing retailer will share how SuiteAnalytics Workbook’s pivot capabilities, charts and user histories deliver unique insights that empower the company to make smarter and more informed business decisions.

Digital Marketing

Within the last year, Google rolled out new updates to its Google Search Console tool and Web Rendering Service. With the BERT update, it also made major algorithm changes based on JavaScript SEO and neural network techniques for natural language processing. Digital marketers will want to attend Data-Driven SEO Success on Wednesday to learn how to take a data-driven approach to their SEO strategy and achieve results.

Tuesday will also feature a training on Demystifying NetSuite Promotions with best practices for setting up SuitePromotions, including item promotions, shipping promotions, auto applying, stacking, best offer and more.

Consultant/Project Manager

Project managers and NetSuite consultants will also have their own track. On Wednesday, Intuitive Dashboards for Project Managers will show a built-out, leading-practice dashboard in action, providing an understanding of all the options and how to build a dashboard yourself in just minutes.

In Thursday’s Time and Expenses: More Control, Flexibility and Automation, NetSuite will present recently released features for NetSuite timesheets and expense reports and show how they increase employee efficiency and overall performance, while also giving a sneak peek into planned features for these capabilities.

That’s just a sampling of the sessions available. The full SuiteWorld session catalog is now online and discounted registration is available through April 4.

Cultivate Customer Loyalty With These 3 Tips

March 2, 2020   CRM News and Info

2) Product Education and Adoption Is Crucial for Long-Term Relationships

Many times, companies are so used to their own products and services that they take their ease of use for granted. Another common mistake is to assume that your customers and clients are using your offerings to their full potential.

To avoid this, you can create several different customer marketing campaigns to ensure sound practical knowledge and optimum usage.

Automated Trigger Campaigns

Earlier, we talked about creating onboarding campaigns to help your consumers get the hang of your products and services. Yet, despite our best efforts as marketers, many customers don’t open those emails or text messages — much less click on any helpful links therein. So, persistence is the key to ensure product adoption.

With marketing automation, you can track user behavior in your app or on your website. Segment these individuals based on their usage and/or purchase history and then launch automated campaigns to familiarize them with your products and services and encourage adoption. Include concise and direct instructions in your campaign and add links and prominent calls-to-action to helpful resources (if available).

You can also A/B test your emails to learn what’s working and what’s not to optimize your onboarding campaigns moving forward. This will help you ensure that your subject lines, CTAs, and content are all resonating with your audience.

Pro-Tips and Training

Depending on your service and product lines, your customers might need some advanced training.

Use progressive profiling and adaptive forms to make it easy for them to sign up for digital training sessions across your marketing channels — on your website, the login page of your app, in your monthly customer newsletter, or even on social media. Don’t overcomplicate the material, but make sure your customers have the fundamentals they need to get great usage out of your product and remain loyal when their renewal date comes around or they’re ready to make another purchase.

If you don’t have the resources to host regular training sessions, consider filming weekly pro-tips (just like we do) and sharing your videos on your social platforms and in your monthly newsletters.

Customer Webinars

If you want to go above and beyond, customer webinars can be extremely helpful in improving product education and adoption. These digital events provide a great opportunity to dig in deep regarding some of the more complicated features of your offerings and guide customers through certain functionality or use cases they might not have tried to implement without your help.

And since a large portion of your audience would rather learn through watching than reading, webinars usually draw a lot of viewers, which gives you a chance to promote additional products and services in real-time.

The best part is that, by reserving some time for Q&A, you can interact with your customers on a personal level and discover common frustrations that you can work to solve internally.
